To the sadness of many Cubs fans, he left the team at the end of the 2000 season and joined the Arizona Diamondbacks. Many Cubs fans, however, were happy in a bittersweet way to see one of the all-time great Cubs get a World Series ring. Good chance he will not make it to the Hall of Fame which is a pity. His lack of any singular sensational season will cost him, despite his consistent run of very good seasons over a lengthy career.
