Early tenth century Japanese poet and one of the four court poets ordered by the Emperor Daigo to compile a poetry collection, the Kokinshu (Collection of Poems Old and New). Some consider his poem "Since I left her", included in the Kokinshu, one of the best works in the collection. He largely disappears from the historical record after the compilation of the anthology.
