The Japanese word (Kanji 億) meaning 108, or one hundred million. This is equal to 10,000 man, or literally "ten thousand ten-thousand." Japanese has traditionally used a system of counting based on ten thousand rather than one thousand, and one oku (ichi-oku) can also be written as 1,0000,0000. After oku, there is juu-oku (one billion), hyaku-oku (ten billion) and sen-oku (one hundred billion) before you get to chou (one trillion).

Written to commemorate Everything2's one hundred millionth hit, which happened in the early morning hours of April 20, 2002 in server time.
