Otterbox is a private company in Fort Collins, Colorado that manufactures protective equipment for cell phones. The cases are waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof. I use an Otterbox that has two layers. The inner layer is a soft rubber-like material, and the outer layer is a hard plastic. The one I picked up has a sliding card holder on the back so I can carry a credit card and a driver's license without worrying about my wallet.

The company was founded in 1998 by Curt Richardson and David Bridge. By 2008 they were concentrating on cell phone cases, with a small subdivision working on military equipment protection technology. Overall, the company has revenues exceeding $2 billion dollars.
