Well travelled Australian soccer player currently rotting away unused at Premier League club Middlesborough.

Okon started his career with Sydney club Marconi Stallions before leaving for FC Bruges in Belgium. From there he earned moves to Serie A club Lazio. Although recognised as being incredibly talented (you'd have to be to play with Lazio) he was held back by injuries and had very little playing time with the Italian giants. A move to fellow Serie A club Fiorentina followed several years later, before a move to his current club.

Okon captains the Socceroos and has 32 caps and asolitary goal. He generally plays in midfield but is also comfortable playing as a sweeper. If it was not career hampering injuries Okon would probably have been a much bigger figure in world football.

Most recently Steve McClaren (Middlesborough manager) has told Okon that he can search around for another club as he is not wanted. This is hard to believe considering the huge impact he had in their battle against relegation last season.
