Pyerun was the Russian name for their thunder god. Also as rain god he controlled the world's fertility. As lightning wielder he was the god of war, riding in the sky in an iron chariot pulled by a giant billy-goat, throwing his axe to kill demons. In many Slavic regions he was considered the king of the gods.
