A minor character in Shakespeare's Hamlet, Rosencrantz, along with Guildenstern, got a play to themselves called Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Played by Gary Oldman, Rosencrantz steals the show in the movie version.

I beg to differ the performances of Richard Drefuss and Tim Roth were both shining.

Rozencrantz is by far the more "befuddled" member of the duo. A fun thing to do is to sit a friend down in front of this movie and see if they can figure out who is who. (through the movie it's kept mostly ambiguous as to which character is which, and some of the subtle ways they do this have been mimiced in some performances of Hamlet that i have seen).
