The
Shoe People was a bizarre
childrens TV show made in the
1980s. It centered around an old
shoe mender's shop (although the shop itself doesnt feature much). The
story goes like this: people bring shoes to the shop to be repaired. However, some people "
forget" to pick up their mended shoes, or the shoes are too
worn out to be repaired. In some kind of
sentimental shoe love however, the shoe mender cannot bring himself to throw out the shoes. Instead, he puts the shoes into the
back room of the shop.
The door to the back room does not fit very well. At night when he closes the door, the shoe mender has to slam the door shut. Unknowingly, when he does this, he kicks up a load of magic dust which brings the shoes to life. The wall of the back room disappears and the Shoe People go down to Shoe Town.

The lyrics to the theme music:
Every time you're skipping down the street
Think about the shoes upon your feet, today
It's a magic world when your toes uncurl
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
What've you got between you and the ground
When you want to dance of simply run around
There's some friends down there to take you everywhere
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
Sh-sh-sh-shoe people
