A book of
allegorical tales set in the fictional locales of
the Enchanted City and
the Great Park, written by
David and
Karen Mains, and
beautifully illustrated by
Jack Stockman. They are sort of
Christian fairy tales, pitting
all things good against
all things evil, very simply and compellingly. If you're not a Christian, or at least somewhat sympathetic to
the idea of an inherently good God, then these books probably won't interest you. If you are, though, check them out; the
illustrations make the simple
symbolism in the book come to life, the stories are first-rate
tales with
characters that nearly everybody can
identify with. . . all in all,
a class act.
Tales of the Resistance is the
sequel.
