This slogan appears on the window of a Salvation Army shelter in downtown Toronto1. Presumably it's meant to offer comfort ... the Army doing charitable work in a part of the city that was a bit down at the heels ... at least before the tsunami of condominiums inundated the area with designer brick, smoked glass, and behemoth SUVs .... but I digress.

As I read the slogan, I couldn't help but visualize it. The Hand of God, as a Terry Gilliam animation, reaching down from the clouds above to grasp the pulsating, living heart ot Toronto, and tear it loose, in a fountain of blood, from the city's core.

The image stuck with me all day.

1. Jarvis south of Richmond, if you must know.
