Season 1884/85
During the 1884/85 season, Tottenham Hotspur's good run of form continued
losing only two games all year. At the end of the season came another significant
change. Sam Casey, the club secretary, had been receiving mail addressed to
another club called London Hotspur. It was decided that the club should change
it's name from Hotspur to Tottenham Hotspur to distinguish themselves from the
other side. At the same time the club decided to change its strip from all blue
to blue and white after seeing Blackburn Rovers, who played in white and blue,
beat Glasgow's Queen's Park 2-0 in the cup final.
