Twee-pop's resident perv (aside from Momus), Toystore's story is much more interesting than his music, which is an impressive feat. Toystore is little more than an alias for a pseudonym, Jenky. One day, on the doorstep to the offices of Michigan indie Janine Records, there was a package with a demo tape in it. On that package was a note that said "At the very most, please release my music, at the very least, please do not make fun of it." While their efforts to trace the package were futile, the label released the demo tape in a very small pressing of 100 "limited-edition" copies, under the name Jazz for Twee. Who knows what'll happen next?
