Turunmaa is a cheese of
Finland, and is named after it's place of traditional origin, the town of
Turku on the southern coast.
Turunmaa is semi-hard, made of cow's milk, and is without rind. It's history dates from the sixteenth century, and is traditionally served for breakfast after the two month maturation period (although in modern times it is also a popular table cheese. It's flavour is similar to Danish Havarti, rich and creamy and aromatic. It's fat content is also similar to Havarti, at 50%.
