An open-source (LGPL) cross-platform suite of APIs intended to simplify virtual reality application programming by providing abstract interfaces to hardware devices such as 3d trackers, display surfaces, graphics programming intefaces such as OpenGL, OpenGL Performer, and Open Scene Graph. VR Juggler is being used both in military virtual reality applications and by companies such as John Deere and MechDyne.
One of the more interesting capabilities of VR Juggler is the ability to run a CAVE with a cluster of inexpensive personal computers running Linux. This is important because it brings the hardware costs of having a CAVE down by about $500,000 and allows application programmers to take advantage of newer extensions to OpenGL made available on graphics cards produced by companies like ATI and Nvidia.
