A shaft mine in the village of Plymouth on the outskirts of Stellarton, Nova Scotia. Westray imploded in May 1992 and an early morning tremor was felt across the town. The methane gas levels had been too high, and machinery sparked the disaster. Several men were rescued but 26 died. The ensuing court case against the mine owners went for 7 years.
