At a person's soul there seems to be an humble desire to be decent.
To love another, to not trample life, or hope,
yet somehow this humble desire gets lost amid our hunger.
Hunger for attention, for things, for food, or pleasure.
Suddenly, Able lies dead, one human treats another as only property,
a young child cries bitterly without enough food or love.
Then day by day, generation by generation
the mark humanity aimed for is lost from sight.
We discuss whether to turn to our left or to our right,
to love lavishly or make strict decrees.
All the while another person's eyes lose their spark,
ethnic groups attempt to"cleanse their environment"
and the earth soaks up more human blood.

When can it end?
