Masters is half of the famous pair of
sex researchers,
Masters and Johnson. He died at the age of 85 in
Tuscon, Arizona from complications from
Parkinson Disease last Friday Feb 16, 2001.
He began his studies of human sexuality while a medical student in New York and would end up co-founding the
Masters and Johnson Institute at
Washington University in
St. Louis with his future wife
Virginia Johnson.
In 1966 the pair published their study on the biological and
psychological responses to sexual arousal, "Human Sexual Responses."
"He was pioneering in a neglected area and willing to risk, even enjoyed risking, his professional existence by breaking through in a field that was avoided and a source of a lot of discomfort," said

Masters divorced Johnson in 1993.
He is survived by his 3rd wife, a daughter, a son and a brother.
