A great way of treating oneself, body and spirit.
As a part of my adjustment to living after my open heart surgery, and to please and support Bill, my long-suffering, patient and kind housemate, I have been slowly tidying the space I inhabit in our house. Then there's the procurement of shelving for my bedroom, and the fact that I hadn't really unpacked after my move, and my general untidiness, there was some stuff to be moved, ousted and organised. I spent an hour (with Bill's help!) moving some stuff out of and around my room. Under normal circumstances, an hour of schlepping stuff would not be a long or tiring thing, but given my fragile chest and the two-pound battery pack of my Zoll Life Vest hanging off my shoulder, that hour was more than sufficient to wear me down and cause me muscle aches in my shoulder.
Despite having energy and with some work still to do, I put the kettle on, made us each a cuppa and went to sit down and just relax my aching muscles and ravaged body. This is absolutely the best thing I'm going to do today other than go to bed and sleep. It's almost as good as a nap, with the benefit of tea. Honestly i understand Arthur Dent's quest for a cup of tea in Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. I'm even in my dressing gown (Bill being better organised than I is fully dressed). So in my dressing gown, drinking tea, not moving about, this is the epitome of luxury just now, a treat worthy of royalty. Also, thanks, Bill, I love you, man.
As for you, next time you feel a little tired, skip the nap and get the kettle on. You will thank me. If you still need encouragement, there's also a website by the same name, which also covers reviews of biscuits suited for eating, and dunking, with tea.
