"Antisense" refers to segments of synthesized genetic material which can prevent or combat diseases. This word has come into common biomedical usage recently with the maturation of the Human Genome Project, an international collaborative work allowing a whole new array of research to be done at the genetic level. The project should be helpful in all areas of pathology, and especially in the field of cancer research.
