apt-rpm (also known as AptRpm) is a port of the original
Debian apt-get (see also:
apt) program for an
RPM based
Linux Distribution.
apt-get originaly only worked on
Debian based systems. Apt-rpm does nothing else besides providing the
package management, dependency sulving, package retriving funcionality of
apt-get to RPM based platforms.
The first distribution that started using it was
Conectiva, which sponsored the porting effort. Today, there are some (several?) other distributions using it.
apt-rpm was ported by Alfredo Kojima (also the author of the
WindowMaker window manager).
