An archgay is an iron-pointed dart or small spear, sometimes also known as a lancegay.

The word orginally came from the Berbers, who used such weapons and called them zaghayah in their native tongue. The weapon and the word were adopted by the Spanish Moors, who called it in Arabic az-zagaya. The word then entered the English language via Spanish azagaya and then the French, arcigaye.
