Babylon 5 Season 1, Episode 3. Written by Larry DiTillio, directed by Bruce Seth Green. Originally aired on February 9, 1994.
Primary Plot: A Centauri slave, Adira, seduces Londo to steal his Purple Files, which contains the dirty secrets on every noble house in the Centauri Republic.
Secondary Plot: Garibaldi investigates unauthorized use of the station's communication Gold Channels. It turns out to be Ivanova, who is using it to communicate privately with her ill father back on Earth.
Commentary: I always liked this episode. It's the first "people" episode, focusing on the human side of Londo, Garibaldi, and Ivanova. There isn't much arc-related stuff here, although it serves to introduce Adira, whose death becomes important in Season 3. It also sheds some light on how the Centauri political structure works.
The color purple has long been associated with royalty, and the expression "Born to the Purple" implies that one was born into nobility.
