A stir-fried chinese noodle dish served in Malaysia, made from wide, flat rice noodles. "Kway Teow" is the name of the noodle itself and "Char" means "Stir-Fried".

The ingredients vary a lot, but Char Kway Teow usually contains soy sauce, onions, bean sprouts and tiny prawns (shrimp).

For the fearful tourist an essential dish to know because it is one of the few Malaysian dishes that is not spicy! (Unlike Mee goreng).

This dish has the most varied spellings in Malaysia, due to the many dialects of Chinese spoken. It is variously spelt Chao Guo Tiao, Kway Tiow etc. etc.
