In juggling, starting a pattern from a standstill... as opposed to a 'warm' or 'running' start, where you start juggling and then move into a pattern.

Certain patterns are best learnt from a cold start, such as the Mill's Mess and Three Ball Shower. However, patterns such as Tennis and Continuous Snatches are best done from a running start.

Just be aware when learning a pattern that there are two ways to start, and switch between them if you're not sure which is easier.
