  • Dave Foley and I were trying to convince Juliana Margulies that all was not as hopeless as she thought. She slumped on the table and cried; we didn't know quite what to do. Much later, when she was cried out and felt a little better, I rubbed Dave's back, and he smiled at me, his face so close to mine.

  • understanding the last two segments were what mattered

  • Everything had been videotaped as evidence, including hundreds of hours of conversation between people who turned out not to know anything about it at all. we ran after him and there were trucks everywhere. Cop shot a man in the face and I saw it. Finally the escapee, who was sometimes me, jumped into a cool clean river and swam away.
