Iridoplegia is a condition in which the iris is paralyzed. This means that the pupil appears to remain at a constant size. It is usually associated with cycloplegia, which is paralysis of the ciliary muscle.

In this case, the eye cannot focus. These conditions are usually caused by injury to the eye. Use of some eyedrops, or illnesses that cause inflammation may also lead to this developing.

If the condition is due to injury the pupil tends to be larger than normal, and unresponsive, either to drugs or to lights.
