Base amount of
money it costs to live, covering housing expenses,
food, entertainment... perhaps leaving a little to save or invest. Proponents of
sweatshop labor, and those who acquiesce to the phenomenon, will say that culture and
market forces determine what a "living wage" is, i.e., it's OK for a woman in
Vietnam to make 10ยข/hour. Here's a better rule of thumb: a living wage for
you will give you the best idea of what it should be for someone else.
