The moraeas are a genus in the iridaceae or iris family, mostly native to South Africa. The flowers are similar in form to irises but don't last as long and come in a wider variety of colours and sizes. Linnaeus's wife was named Elisabeth Hansdotter Moraea; I've not seen a claim anywhere that the genus was actually named after her, but it would be nice.
