An iron-based ore known for its strange quasi-metallic rainbow shine. A single piece will often shine shades of blue, green, magenta, causing the rock to take the appearance, somewhat, of a peacock's tail. Used sometimes in jewelry, where it makes for an attention-getting and unique piece. Sometimes mistakenly called "rainbow hematite". Although both are iron ores hematite and peacock ore are by no means the same thing.
