Rasterburn is a painful irritation of the eyes which comes of spending far too much time sitting far too close to a monitor, staring hard and not blinking enough. It's brought on by programming, and also by first person shooters and lesser games. I recall getting badly rasterburned reading USENET and playing Nethack all night on VT100's in college.
