Japanese word that means something to the effect of "clever move." In the game of
Go (
Wei Qi/
Badouk), a tesuji is the "right" move for a given situation. It might connect your stones, cut an opponent's, force him into
bad shape, etc. Very often, they are the moves that will save a group of your stones from certain death, or decisively kill a group of your opponent's. There are various types of tesuji with special names, for instance
eye-stealing tesuji and
squeeze tesuji. I will leave creating a full list to someone else, since my level of
Go expertise is far below that necessary to adequately discuss them.
There is also a Go book by this title, the third in the Essentials of Go series by Akira Ishida and James Davies. I will leave it to someone else to review this book, since I have yet to read it.
