Track 0 is a mythical place in many copy protection schemes on a number of 8-bit microcomputers. Track 0 existed outside the normal limits of the OS's formatted disk. On some older systems, it is also where the boot code and/or the filesystem tables reside in protected space that the operating system couldn't touch. Very popular in systems that used hard sectored media, like crufty CP/M-80 boxes.
