Also known as "the Sorbonne", the University of Paris is one of the world's oldest universities. According to its website, it was founded in the 13th century and was the first to offer degrees in all four of the areas which became standard in Medieval universities: arts, law, medicine, and theology. Today, the Sorbonne houses the Arts and Human Sciences college of the larger University of Paris. It is located in Paris's Latin Quarter on the Left Bank.
