The meadow illuminated by lightning
A ladybug crawling on the sand
The sparks of the stars brightening
the penny sprawled in my hand

The stiffly stretched rows of grass
glare brightly in the morning sun
My bare foot bleeds due to the glass
left over from an evening beer run

Blood flows freely like from the tap
The foot feels wooden and creaky
I place my finger to that vortex gap
Perhaps to stop the leaking

Or rather to feel the liquid gush
and watch the grass stalks reddened
that green is now sensuous and lush
red-tinted and no longer deadened

I launch the penny into the ethers
It quivers briefly in its flight
Over a patch of grass that withers
yellow-brownish in its blight
