Term for professional baseball players who are too good for the minor leagues but don't perform well in the major leagues. It comes from the standard grading system of minor leagues: A is a low-level league, AA is a mid-level league, AAA one of the best minor leagues. AAAA, then, would be theoretically somewhere between those and the majors.
