Little is known about the actual physical location of
Abqar valley. Some historians claim it to be in
Saudi Arabia, others claim its in
Jordan, and some claim its in
Yemen.
Pre Islamic poets in the Arabian peninsula who showed extraordinary skills at poetry were claimed to be inspired by
Jinns and
Satans at Abqar valley. The title Abqari is given to any poet who showed extraordinary skills at poetry. Abqari term still remains to this day and its synonymous with
genius.
One view claims Abqar is the highest rank given to demons, Satan being the lowest, Ifrit is one step higher, Marid is another step higher, and Abqar is the highest. Another view claims Abqar is a city or a town in the invisible world of the Jinns.
