Acid House first appeared in the middle of the Eighties with Chicago producers like DJ Pierre, Adonis, Farley Jackmaster Funk or Phuture. Phuture's classic song Acid Trax was probably responsible for the term Acid House.

Acid House is a style of dance music and used parts of the House Music that was already around in 80's New York with the deep bass and raw squelcniness of the Roland TB-303 Synthesiser. Acid House was stuck in Chicago until English youths suddenly became great fans and the style was used in raves in London. It became more mainstream during 1988's Summer Of Love.

Nearing the end of the Eighties, Acid House bands like M/A/R/R/S, Technotronic and S'Express(did you notice the play on words?) had huge hits. But as the Nineties dawned Acid House was less popular and tastes were more leaning towards rave music, although a few artists like Felix Da Housecat (my namesake) kept the sound going through the decade.
