Alain Ducasse is the first french chef to achieve six stars in the Michelin guide aka "the red book". He actually has seven if you count the one star given to his inn in the country. But his two restaurants, one in Monte Carlo the other in Paris, are what brought him his acclaim. He recently opened a new restaurant in New York but fell on his face. Seems he overestimated the American public's ability to pay for overpriced food in a city where there already is plenty of it being served by other French chefs.
