Amsoft was the
software division of the
Amstrad home computer company. They produced many games for the
CPC range of
8-bit home computers, the most famous being the pack of games that was given away free with the CPC tape drive machines. The pack was a mixture of
arcade,
educational, and
productivity software and included such classics as
Roland On the Ropes and
Fruit Machine,
Timeman One and
Easy Amsword Word Processor.
Titles that appeared under the Amsoft moniker were usually not developed in-house by Amstrad but by smaller software houses and independant developers. The fate of Amsoft after the demise of the CPC is unknown. I have posted to comp.sys.amstrad.8bit for more information which will hopefully bring the node up to date.
