Hilarious
baseball player for the
St. Louis Browns in the late 1800's. Nicknamed "The Freshest Man On Earth", his antics included exploding
fire crackers while he was playing and threatening to jump into a quart of
milk after a
game.
After a few of the Browns championship seasons, it was customary for the Browns to march around town single file behind owner Chris von Der Ahe. Von Der Ahe could never figure out why everyone was laughing while they did this. If he had bothered to turn around he would have seen Arlie with a bulbous clown nose on his face in a perfect impersonation.
