Αυσων

A son fathered by Odysseus during his travels, some traditions say his mother was Circe, others Calypso (Table 39). He is said to have been a brother of Latinus and to have had a son called Liparus. Auson gave his name to the Ausones, who were the first inhabitants of Italy, itself then known as Ausonia. He was the first ruler of the country (see also Leucasia).
