Baconburg is the city in which Daniel Pinkwater's novels The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death and The Snarkout Boys and the Baconburg Horror are set. It has suburbs such as Hamfat and Swineville, and some of its educational institutions are Genghis Khan High School, George Armstrong Custer Highschool, and Baconburg Adult Education Center.

For entertainment, try Snark Street, from which the Snark Theater and hence the practice of snarking out take their names. Cheap food is available at the Hasty Tasty Diner across Snark from the Snark; much better food can be had at Bignose's Cafeteria on Lower North Aufzoo Street. The Dharma Buns coffeehouse is south of the Snark Theater and features poetry reading from such poets as Jonathan Quicksilver. All in all, residents of Baconburg never lack for something to do.
