Is this something you can live with? Have you considered how your actions effect others? Are the repercussions something you can live with? If you can't be honest with yourself and think about that which you do through life, you will never be able to be honest with anyone else.

It's true not everyone is considerate or conscious of others in their lives, but this is no reason to hide from yourself by acting on words of others instead of your own. Peer pressure may have suited you fine in High school, but it's time to learn for yourself and only if you are honest with yourself will you develop into a confident and calm human being.
Or as the inscription at the temple of Apollo in Delphi said:

Nosce te ipsum

Know thyself

I can't think of better advice.

Nosce te ipsum is also a book by Sir John Davies
