This is summarized from my memory of one of the puzzles in Discover Magazine.

Imagine the following game - I place one dollar on the table and flip a coin. If you call the flip wrong, I give you the dollar. If you are correct, I match the dollar on the table with another and flip again.

It continues until you are wrong, with me matching the amount on the table each time you are correct.
What amount should you pay me initially if the wager is to be fair? Ten dollars? Fifty? A hundred?

Give up? Are you sure? Think about it. If you want to give up or are certain of your answer, click here. It will surprise the heck out of you, take my word for it!
