A 1977 movie. Al Pacino plays Bobby, a successful but mightily reserved racing car driver who unbends when he meets and falls in love with a character played by Marthe Keller. He begins to enjoy life and even starts to smile (gasp!). Alas, unknown to him, she is, of course, dying of one of those pre-AIDS fatal diseases (e.g. leukaemia or cancer). The ending resembles that of "Harold and Maude" - it's like a version of that film for grown-ups.
