CIVICUS: a
living and
learning program at the
University of Maryland that encompasses the learned wisdom of
leadership,
service, and
civic involvememnt. Housed in
Somerset Hall, the program is made up of roughly 120 or so first and second year students. Attending special classes built for

Service events include Habitat for Humanity, cleaning up public parks and natural areas, food and clothing drives, and any other activity deemed community service.
The program is led by its director, Dr. Sue Briggs. Leaving a previous teaching position at UMBC to head up this program, Sue has turned it into a world class program that is nationally recognized for its service work and civic involvememnt.
