The Chelsea neighborhood in New York City is famous for, among other things, it's strong support of the arts as is shown by the immense numbers of small, independent galleries to be found on its streets. If you're looking for a purely directionless stroll through the art world as it's being produced and sold today, just head down to Chelsea and walk around between 9th and 10th avenues on a Saturday afternoon. It's impossible not to stumble upon these locations.
