Born in 1905 in Montrose, Colorado, Dalton Trumbo was a novelist and screenwriter. In 1947, he was among the
Hollywood Ten, a group of people in the
movie industry who refused to testify before the
House Un-American Activities Committee. He spent almost a year in jail for this. After his release, he wrote scripts under various pseudonyms. Almost ten years after his release from prison, he was reinstated in the
Writers Guild of America, and resumed writing scripts under his own name. Dalton Trumbo died in 1976 in Los Angeles.
