A renowned British jazz bass player.

Dave Holland was born in Wolverhampton, England, in 1946. He started working the London Jazz scene around 1966 playing with musicians such as John Surman, John McLaughlin, Evan Parker, John Taylor, Chris McGregor, John Stevens, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster and Joe Henderson.

He then moved to New York, where he joined the Miles Davis band, with which he played on seminal albums suche as "In a Silent Way" and "Bitches Brew".

Dave Holland has been a top jazz performer and band leader even since, winning several awards and Grammy nominations. He has made recent recordings with his quintet and with a trio including John Surman and Anouar Brahem.
