Small town in Steptoe Valley in eastern Nevada, originally settled in 1879. The major local industry for most of the town's existence has been mining - copper mining until about 1980, and gold and silver mining afterwards.
The junction of US 93, US 50, and US 6 is in the center of town. It is approximately 240 miles to Salt Lake City, Utah or Las Vegas, Nevada and 350 miles to Reno, Nevada. The Great Basin National Park is about 60 miles east of town, near the Utah border.
[and on a personal note - it's the town where I was born!]
